Artist's Comments

This is a old but very famous japanese poem called "iroha" (more information and translation at www.wikipedia.org).
It's written on japanese paper (washi).
Digital corrections: inserted hanko (since I haven't one), minor color corrections (scanner related).
Original size: 25 x 17.5 cm (9.8" x 6.9")

Da hat's aber einer drauf! Sieht wirklich super aus! Und für die, die unserer schönen Sprache nicht mächtig sein sollten: absolutely great work!

"We have enough youth, how about a fountain of SMART?"
:iconkittita:
vary pretty, did you accually write it on the paper?

--
Yeah, so what if I'm a follower. Leaders would be absolutly nothing without us.

Wow! Thank you! Here's the full story: took a sheet of washi, a brush and my japanese textbook (to have a look at the exact shapes of the hiragana). Then started to write. First one was terrible, second one got some ink spots and the third try is here. Took me around an hour and still looks strange to me (most notably ra and ya) but I guess I can't do better at this time.

Thanks again,

Jan

The program is called "The Gimp" (www.gimp.org) but it's only an image manipulation program like photoshop (just for linux). Just write your name in kanji and arrange the them. The frame is kuchi (mouth). Only problem: you have to find a tensho style font which has all the kanji you need. I couldn't find the last kanji (an) so I made it from some basic kanji included in the font (took me several days to find a picture of it since I got no idea about how to write it in tensho). If you have any questions about this topic, just PM me.
